Bruxism mouth guard

Bruxism (grinding or clenching of teeth) is an abnormal habit, done inadvertently and usually occurring during the night.

The consequences of bruxism are:

  • Abrasion and wear of tooth
  • Fractures of teeth and prostheses
  • Mobility of teeth
  • Pain in the jaw joint
  • Headaches
  • Pain in the muscles of the head and jaw
  • Limitation in the mouth opening

For this problem, in our clinic we manufacture special bruxism mouth guards to eliminate or alleviate all of these symptoms.

Implants

Dental implants are a replacement of the tooth root made of titanium. Titanium has the ability to create a strong bond with the bone (osseointegration). The implant can be used by the dentist to replace one or more teeth, and for patients who have lost all of their teeth.

The advantages of implants are:

  • stability, like natural teeth
  • aesthetics
  • no drilling of adjacent teeth is required
  • bone loss reduction
  • dentures stabilization
  • life quality improvement

Implants are appropriate for all ages, after recording the medical history of the patient. A prerequisite is a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) of the patient, for a three-dimensional image of the jaws. The placement of implants is a relatively painless procedure performed with local anaesthesia.

Implants require a period of about 2-6 months for their full osseointegration depending on the case. Then we proceed to the fabrication of the crown. In many cases, when patients have very good bone quality, the placement of the implant and crown can be made directly, namely at the same time. This results in the restoration of one or even all lost tooth in minimum time.

Implants may be used as supports for removable dentures, achieving excellent stability.

Large value differentiations in implants are mainly due to the quality of implants; in our clinic, we use implants of the companies MIS and Straumann.

Endodontics

Endodontics is the field of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of lesions of dental pulp. The main cause of endodontic lesions are caries, which reach the pulp of the tooth and create inflammation and hence pain. So, dentists intervene by removing the pulp of the tooth, disinfects the root canal and hermetically fills it with inert material. This process is known as root canal therapy. Our clinic includes all the modern equipment for addressing root canal therapy.

Periodontics

Periodontics is the field of dentistry that deals with the health of the supporting structures of the tooth. These include the gums, bone and adjacent tissues. The most common conditions are gingivitis, periodontitis and gum recession. The main cause of these diseases is the accumulation of plaque. Improper treatment of these problems can lead to tooth loss. With the help of the dentist and the patient's cooperation, these conditions can be treated.

Removable dentures

Dentures are mechanisms that replace all (full denture) or even one missing tooth (partial denture). An advantage for dentures is that they are the cheapest option for replacing missing teeth. Some of the disadvantages of dentures is that it takes some time before patients become familiar with their use. Chewing food and speech can be difficult. Dentures can often cause stomatitis.

Prosthodontics - Bridges

A bridge is used to replace two or more teeth. Dental crowns on either side of the bridge, are applied on the teeth on the right and left of the empty space. These teeth are referred to as abutments. Artificial teeth between the abutments (bridges) cover the gap. The bridges may be fabricated of porcelain-fused-to-metal, all-ceramic or zirconium.

Fluoridation

Teeth fluoridation is a treatment in which the dentist puts fluoride gel on the surface of teeth to prevent dental caries.

Children are the first and most important group that should have fluoridation; teeth fluoridation is recommended twice a year in the ages 6 - 15, namely the period when permanent teeth are formed and emerge. Fluoridation is also used in adults that are at high risk of caries.

Coverage of pits and fissures (Sealant)

Teeth at the back of the mouth create holes and cracks, or pits and fissures where food residue and bacteria accumulate, and which cannot be easily removed by brushing.

To address this problem using the dental sealant procedure is used or otherwise coverage of pits and fissures, where the dentist places a thin liquid sealing material covering these pits and fissures. This results in the prevention of the accumulation of plaque, the stay of which for extended periods causes caries.

With Sealants, patients preserve the tooth surface clean preventing decay, simply by brushing.
